Pinwheels and Flowers

Please excuse the poor quality photos. My lighting was terrible.
I finished this top today. This is made up of the "wanna be quarter square triangles". No one has told me what they are called yet. Sadly, it only used up 48 of my half-square triangles, but I did use up the floral print that I have had around for awhile!

A Quarter Square Triangle Wanna Be?

Anyone know what a quarter square triangle with only three triangles is called? I'm drawing a blank!

Quarter Square Triangles

Who do you know that has more half-square triangles than me?? Come on! There must be someone! Well, I sure would like to meet them! I think I have an awful lot of them. It comes from demonstrating my Stitching Lines at quilt shows. I can't seem to use them up. I think they reproduce when I'm not looking. And some of the squares have gotten together that never should have met up. I can't even show you the really bad ones. They are punished and sent to the trash bin!! Quarter square triangles use up two Half-Square Triangles! Yipee!! That's two gone! My half-square triangle supply is made with 3-1/2" squares. Some I have already squared up to 3". But they work just fine when paired up with untrimmed HST's. Another Yipee! I take two HST's that look good together, press seams to the dark, stack them right sides together, with dark on light. I pin the two ends of the seam, and lay a small strip of Stitching Lines on top. I line up one horizontal dotted line with the seam line on the top HST, and try to line up the center-line of strip with the corner points. I stitch on the two dotted lines.
Next, I tear away the sides of the Stitching Lines and cut on the solid line. I leave the small 1/4" remainder and press against it.
Then I square up the quarter square triangle to 2-1/2".
All done. Two HST's gone and now I have two quarter square triangles.
OOPS. What happened?
Not only do my HST's reproduce.
Now they change color on me. What's up with that?? All finished and looking good!

Baby Quilts and More Baby Quilts

New baby quilts in the works. Just need binding for these two.

Finished up these two last week and put in my Etsy shop. My shop is scrolling on the right side of the blog. I've got two more that still need to be quilted. Maybe that will be it for awhile. I want to get back to my second Scrappy Trip for my bedroom. I never thought I could make the same quilt over and over and over again. But, I enjoy making these little baby quilts. i've got a system going now and I love picking out all the fabrics. If I only used two fabrics, that would be a different story. The fun is in the choosing.

Birdie Quilt

I finished this birdie quilt this morning.
Since we have had rain on and off all morning, I couldn't get great light for this pic.

Our wonderful winter weather is supposed to go away tomorrow. But I like it this way for now.

Baby Quilts

I finished the binding on this baby quilt today. I quilted it with a serpentine stitch on the diagonal. And I've already listed it on my Etsy shop.

This quilt top was finished a long time ago. Just quilted it yesterday and washed it this morning. I am sooooo trying to finish up old projects.
I don't know where I found the bird fabric, but hope I have more. I really like it. I quilted it with an all over meandering stitch, the only thing I can do on my Grace frame!
The light inside my bedroom does it no justice. I think I picked out a wood grain fabric for the binding. I'll have to look that up.
But who knows where it is!!
I am such a slob when it comes to my sewing room.
I have impressed myself..........two baby quilts quilted in one week!!!

This is who keeps me busy two or three days a week.  Little Evie Jo, a sleeping beauty!

Wild Animals Quilted.

I must admit. I had high hopes for yesterday's quilting. At day's end, though, I had only started two blocks for my Scrappy Trip. And my plan was to make and finish six blocks! It was a lazy day for me. So, now I am behind.

This afternoon, I quilted this baby quilt. I used a serpentine stitch and quilted diagonal lines. It's very easy. It keeps the quilt together. And that's always my goal. I wish I liked to quilt, but I don't. Now, into the wash it goes. And then I will put a scrappy binding on it.

Another Super Bowl Sunday!
That means more sewing time for me! Yipee!!

I plan on sewing together the last two rows of this quilt, today, and maybe quilting it. I have already sold two of these, one online at my Etsy shop. But this is pretty much the end of this giraffe fabric, only a half yard left.
You know I never noticed, but there are also lions with the giraffes. This quilt gets a new name!

I finished my first Scrappy Trip last week. I wonder how long it will sit around, before I quilt it!!

A couple days ago, I started another Scrappy Trip. This one will get quilted for sure, since I am going to put it in my bedroom. I pulled the colors from my pillow shams, which I made from a way too heavy quilt I had bought for my bed. I cut it up for these two shams and have plenty more quilt to use for something else.
I will definitely be sewing more blocks for this quilt today. I only have 12 more to go. And the strips are already cut and organized into blocks.  I set a goal of at least 6 a day. Easy Peasy!!

Scrappy Trip Quilt

I think it is time for a new post! I got bitten by the Scrappy Trip bug.
These blocks are addicting and so easy.
After I got all these blocks sewn, put up on the wall and stood back, I could see something was missing.

Almost all the colors were cool. I needed to warm it up a bit.
So I am adding more blocks with some yellow.
I think it gives it a little more interest.
Also, I can see that I need more darks.

I will switch out some blocks with the new ones and move them all around.

I wish this used up more scraps. My stash never seems to dwindle. What's up with that. Even if I make this queen size, I don't think I will see a dent.

One thing I found out about this pattern by Bonnie Hunter (link here), was that the seams don't always mesh together nicely. Even Bonnie says you may need to repress or unstitch and adjust direction of seams. That I don't like to do. Her method for putting together the block is great. My only change was the final pressing. Those seams, I pressed open. Then I can match up a seam pressed in one direction with a seam pressed open. Less bulk for me.

I am already thinking of other color combinations I might use. like I say, this is addicting.
